JOB TITLE: Chapter Lead Suspension Systems (Manager role)

THE OPPORTUNITY

 

Chassis is responsible for the design, development and integration of all chassis functions from Programme Start to Job1 across all vehicle platforms. Chassis functions include all the functions related within the chassis domain of the vehicle: brakes, stability control, steering, suspension, longitudinal or lateral control, etc.

The Suspension Function Group sits within the Chassis Technology Area as part of the Body Chassis Product Engineering Organisation.

The Suspension Function Group are responsible for delivery of Electric Drive Unit and Powertrain Mounting Systems, Suspension Bushes, Passive and Active Dampers, Anti Roll Bars, Active Roll Control Systems / Air Suspension Systems / Coil and Air Springs and Active Suspension Systems working within an AGILE Framework.

 

THE ROLE

 

  • Development and delivery of System Engineering for the Suspension Function group, building on the existing architecture diagrams, requirements, validation & integration planning and then fulfilling all other aspects required by the JLR Systems Engineering framework.
  • Close partnership with the Suspension System team and equivalent teams across chassis & beyond, to deliver a cohesive output aligned to the technical methods & needs of the department.
  • Support development and delivery of suspension system solutions in accordance to the sub-system specification to meet the defined customer requirements
  • Support creation of delivery plans in line with technical strategy, including strategic technology development
  • Plan and develop necessary skills and resources including training, coaching and recruitment of the team
  • Ensure that process, ways-of-working, tooling, feature / function development, verification and training is delivered as one cohesive solution; including adherence to those processes
  • Responsible to ensure cross-functional technical design reviews are performed.
  • Ensure team adherence to the use of specified engineering methods, computer tools and aids applied
  • Ensure features / functions and systems are validated according to the appropriate design and validation standards
  • Manage the interface with all aspects of the company including Systems Engineering teams, Vehicle Engineering, Controls and Software Leadership teams

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience of delivering Mechatronic Systems from Concept to Production using Systems Engineering
  • Knowledge of Chassis Systems
  • Experience of working with control systems
  • Engineering Degree or recognised relevant experience through professional development
  • Experience in leading projects across a range of Engineering Quality processes
  • Experience in delivering programme and change management activites, ensuring high quality / efficient syst
