This role sits within Engineering Operations (EO), specifically the newly formed “Power Lab”, a centre of excellence dedicated to power electronics testing. Your role will be pivotal as you support the development and validation of advanced power electronics systems for our cutting-edge electric vehicles.

Collaborating closely with hardware engineers, software developers, and system architects, you will be tasked with understanding and adapting electrified vehicle propulsion systems to fulfil a suite of tests as defined by the vehicle/unit programme. You will produce system test rig designs that will be efficient to manufacture and interface with the test facility to deliver high quality data in a simulated vehicle environment. You will also work with wider system rig design teams to continuously improve design standards and align them with facility capabilities.

You will develop facility maintenance standards and interface with the wider EO facilities team to ensure consumables, instrumentation and calibration activities are completed as appropriate.

o Specify test environment.

o Design system under test schematics.

o Design robust network topologies and physical layers.

o Design both high and low voltage electrical distribution systems.

o Specify data acquisition requirements.

o Understand physical layout, interfaces and use CAE to deliver efficient mechanical designs for manufacture by a team of technicians.

• Act as champion for process documentation and support continuous improvement to increase test efficiency and product quality. Record processes and retain data appropriately to ensure a positive outcome for any audit, e.g. TS16949, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.

• Support operations teams with in-cell support and “hands on” debug and commissioning.
